What we move
Full truckloads, bulk and break-bulk, containers to and from port, abnormal and over-dimensional loads, plant and machinery, project cargo, and long-distance consolidated freight.
Home / Heavy Haul
The managed side of FleetXchange. You brief us on the shipment; we source the transporter, negotiate, coordinate the move and handle the documentation. One point of contact, one invoice.
What it is
Heavy Haul is a brokerage, not a listings board. You do not deal with the transporter — we do. We hold the relationship, carry the coordination and stand behind the shipment. That is what you want when the cargo is worth more than the truck, or when it has to clear a border on a deadline.
Full truckloads, bulk and break-bulk, containers to and from port, abnormal and over-dimensional loads, plant and machinery, project cargo, and long-distance consolidated freight.
The Southern African corridors: Botswana–South Africa, Botswana–Zimbabwe, Botswana–Zambia, Namibia and the Walvis Bay and Durban port routes.
Manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, miners, contractors, and anyone shipping goods across a border who does not want to manage transporters, permits and clearing agents themselves.
The managed process
Nothing gets skipped because someone was busy. Each stage is recorded against the load in the portal.
Cargo description, weight and dimensions, commodity, origin and destination, pickup window, delivery deadline and any special requirements — permits, temperature control, hazardous goods, escort. Upload packing lists, commercial invoices, import and export documents and cargo photos.
Our team checks that the route is feasible, the cargo is correctly declared and the documentation is complete. If something is missing we come back to you rather than discovering it at a border post.
We put the load to transporters qualified for that corridor and that cargo. They see the route, the cargo and the timeline. They do not see who you are — your customer relationships stay yours.
We assess every bid on price, vehicle suitability, permits, availability and track record, then bring you a shortlist. You make the final call.
We confirm the appointment, brief the transporter on every detail, and manage the shipment through pickup, loading, transit, border crossings and customs to delivery. You get status updates against the load throughout.
The transporter submits proof of delivery. We check it and confirm the cargo arrived complete before anything is signed off. Nothing is invoiced against an unverified delivery.
Once proof of delivery is approved, the transporter invoices us and we invoice you. One invoice, one counterparty, a clean audit trail against the load.
Cross-border
On cross-border loads the portal unlocks additional milestones so you can see exactly where the truck is in the clearance process rather than hearing “it is at the border” for two days.
Export and import paperwork is reviewed with the load, before the truck is loaded.
Cross-border permits and corridor-specific requirements are confirmed as part of vetting the transporter.
Arrival at border, clearance in progress and departure are recorded as distinct statuses.
We work alongside your clearing agent, or ours, so the handover does not stall.
Goods-in-transit cover can be applied to a shipment so the cargo is insured while it is on the road. Ask us to quote it in with the freight rate.
Why brokered
A load board hands you a phone number. A brokerage hands you a managed shipment.
If something goes wrong, you call us. We do not redirect you to the transporter.
Not just verified in general — checked for the permits and capability that specific route needs.
Transporters bid on the freight, not on your customer relationships.
Load documents, statuses, comments, proof of delivery and invoices all live against the shipment.
Managed freight needs documents, attachments and a full audit trail, so it is handled in the browser rather than the app. The mobile app is for Lite Haul.
Send us the route, the cargo and the deadline. We will come back to you with options and a price.
